Aly:
Yoga has been a part of my lifes practice for nearly a decade now...this studio space specifically is where I began this journey and quickly fell in love with hot yoga & barre. I completed my barre instructor training in 2022 and have really enjoyed being a leader in motivating others! Mentally or physically; hot yoga & barre are a huge presence in my life and have gotten me through so many triumphs and challenges over the years. Additionally, Waukee is PROUDLY my hometown, and I'm now raising my own 4 children here with my husband. I'm passionately invested in what this studio means to both the yoga and Waukee communities and am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of something so wonderful!
Dance, gymnastics, cheer and wrestling were a big part of my life growing up. Later, I started taking yoga as an elective in college and fell in love with the practice. I found myself out of shape as a focused Grad student and my yoga practice was a great way to work my way back into shape while also giving myself grace. After my studies abroad in India I was able to expand my practice and love for yoga to an exciting new level. I completed my instructor training in 2012 and have been teaching since. In 2021 I completed my barre certification and added that to my wheelhouse. My husband and I reside in Waukee, where we are owners of another local business and love raising our two beautiful children.
The Leaders
Kelli:
I was first introduced to Yoga in college and it was NOT love at first sight. Years later during marathon training a good friend talked me into it again and after a few classes I saw the benefits and was hooked! I enjoy all things fitness, especially group fitness. I have a passion for the energy and community it creates! I have pretty much tried it all - Yoga, running, hiking, stadium stairs, weight training, Barre, HIIT, cycling and I KEEP coming back to the studio atmosphere time and time again. I love a good playlist and truly pushing you to a limit you didn't know you could reach. I love watching a client grow in their journey and goals. I cannot wait to see you on your mat!
Nina:
Hi I am Nina. I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for 10 years. I am RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and hold certifications in barre, ballet barre and cardio barre.
My husband and I live in Adel with two daughters and two dogs that keep us busy along with my full time job in the financial services industry.
My hobbies (outside of group fitness) are traveling, hiking, running, biking, swiming and gardening. Anything that is active and outdoors.
I also have a passion for pizza, Reese's and a glass of wine (Or a spciy Margarita or Hazy IPA)
Megan:
Hi I'm Megan! I fell in love with Barre in 2015 and began teaching in 2019. I love how a great playlist can drive the vibe of a class! My husband, son and dog live in West Des Moines where I am also a teacher at Indian Hills Jr. High teaching 8th grade science! Can't wait to see you all on your mat!
Kelly:
My name is Kelly Vowels and I have been teaching group fitness for over 15 years. I'm certified in a variety of formats from kickboxing to resistance training, but I fell in love with yoga sculpt many years ago. It is the perfect combination of strength, stability, and balance. In my class you are guaranteed to feel STRONG, while also jamming to a great playlist.
I live in Waukee with my husband Matt and two daughters Maddie and Hannah and work full time in the financial services industry. I'm so proud to be a part of the Fit and Fierce 515 community!
Nikki:
I started my yoga teaching journey when my older son was just 1 year old. I fell in love with it and have been teaching vinyasa yoga ever since 2007. Yoga sculpt came later in 2020 after falling in love with the heat, strength gains, variety and the challenge these classes bring.
Yoga became a perfect complement to my running and attribute that to never having an injury and keeping me balanced during my most intense training to date...Des Moines Half Ironman in June of 2023.
Terri:
My name is Terri Tennison. My Husband Randy and I have been a part of the Waukee community for 18 years. We raised our four children here and now we have the privilege of seeing our four grandchildren raised here also.
I earned my Barre certification at the studio four years ago and have loved being a member and an instructor there ever since! I also have certifications in Yoga including several variations, Group Exercise, Cycle, Strength, and Personal Training. This has given me the opportunity to teach a a variety of different classes at the studio. I have a passion for people, fitness, and encouraging people to do their best, so being a part of this studio has made a huge impact on me reaching these passions. I am grateful for each and every one of them.
Cynthia:
I'm Cynthia. I'm a wife, a mom to 3 adult children, a dog mom and a grandma!
I've been teaching some sort of group fitness for 20 years now. I teach Pilates mat & reformer, yoga, barre & trx. When i'm not teaching I love to travel, cook, exercise, read or hang out with family & friends.
Colleen:
I discovered hot yoga in Flagstaff, AZ in 2011. I was hooked! I was thrilled to find hot yoga in Waukee in 2012. I received my 200 hour teacher training in 2013 and started teaching in 2014.
I taught 1-2 classes when I worked FT. Now that I am retired, teaching yoga and other fitness classes has been a great PT job.
My favorite thing about yoga is we can do yoga for the rest of our life!
Fallon:
Growing up, I have always had a passion for fitness and pushed myself to try something new - branch out of my comfort zone. With this mentality, I have explored and tried different areas of fitness and completed different races. These races include Marathons, Triathlons, two full Ironmans, trail running, mountain bike racing, gravel racing, and so on. It was not until after my son was born that I deciding to stay home from my full time job in Healthcare and become certified in fitness classes that I have enjoyed taking. I wanted to dive deeper and focus more on teaching and training people so they can accomplish their fitness goals, like I have done for myself. I became certified and can teach Yoga, Barre, Pilates, Tai Chi, TRX, and Group Fitness classes. I am also a Personal trainer and a Health and Wellness Coach. Outside of fitness and work, I like to spend time with my two kids, two dogs, and husband. You may find me out listening to live music, coaching/watching my kids sports (basketball and soccer) and activities, or at home trying to read a good book but cannot finish it due to being interrupted by my kids, dogs and husband.
Maria:
I am a Nashville transplant by way of Indiana I am happy to now call Waukee home. I started my journey into fitness by becoming quickly addicted to barre in 2011 and getting certified in several barré modalities as well as Pilates, Tabata, Tabata GX and cardio yoga. My love for fitness has only intensified and as far as I’m concerned I have many more miles to go on this amazing journey!
Julie:
I grew up in a very active family and competed in several different sports when I was younger. I’ve been a lifelong runner and enjoy trying different fitness classes. I took my first yoga class while I was working at a stressful corporate job. I loved it immediately as it helped me find the calm that I needed during my day. I love that there are so many different styles. I completed my 200 hr yoga teacher training in 2017 and have been teaching since. I’ve met so many amazing people through the yoga community around Waukee. I like all kinds of music but really love a good indie cover of a pop song.
My husband and I live in Clive and have 3 kids that keep us busy with dance and a variety of different sports. We love to travel with our kids. Our summers are filled with watching all 3 kids compete in triathlons.
Heidi:
Love is loving you through and through and through and through. You do not even need to believe that for it to be true. For me yoga is deeply intimate and sacred practice that is meant to be taken off the mat by unblocking our minds, hearts and bodies. We just have to say yes and the wisdom within will make it so. May our time together on our mats be fun, loving, free, and fulfilling. Hope to see you soon.
Morgan:
I am Morgan and absolutely love fitness! I fell in love with it during college when I attended my first spin class at Iowa State. I then experienced barre and yoga and haven't stopped since. My family includes my husband, who teaches in Waukee, and three kids: Isabella, Ashton, and Sawyer. I am a full-time wedding photographer and love traveling in my free time.
Kaylee:
Hi! My name is Kaylee and I first fell in love with yoga in 2017.
As a former gymnast I found it was the perfect balance of strength and flexibility that always left me smiling. I believe laughter is healing and that you should never take yourself too seriously.
When I'm not practicing yoga you’ll usually catch me making art or reading one of my many books- recommendations always wanted!
I’m so excited to be representing Fierce and Fit and I can’t wait to connect with you all!

Jolene:
Hi, I’m Jolene! I have taught yoga and group fitness since 2010 and have an appreciation for the mind-body connection. I earned my 300-hour yoga teacher training with James Miller Yoga and went on to take Stott Pilates Comprehensive Matwork training. I have a laid-back teaching style and a sense of humor! We have fun in my classes as we gain core strength and stability. Your experience and safety are a main focus while meeting you where you are on your fitness journey.
My husband and I have lived in Urbandale while raising our 2 boys in the Waukee school district. This is an amazing community and over the last 20+ years of attending classes then teaching, I have formed many friendships. I hope to meet you in a class soon, too!
When I am not in a studio, you can catch me organizing and styling homes, gardening, reading, cooking or hanging out with my friends and family.
